Lodge
These styles evolved from furnishings used in the rural communities
throughout America. From the American southwest, across the plains and
into the mining and logging camps of the 19th century, the furniture was
designed to meet the demands of the frontier.
Furniture attributes include clean lines with regional motifs applied or
carved as ornamentation.
Local rough-hewn wood such as pine, hickory, and maple was used for tables,
cupboards and chairs and either kept in its natural finish, or colored with
milk-paint or transparent stains.
