English Country
The mood created by the English country look evokes a comfortable, cozy
atmosphere based on warm textures, natural colors, and worn woods. Rather
than a historical style, English country is more of an interpretation of
traditional forms with a relaxed, homey feel.
Furniture attributes include turned legs for tables and chairs with large
baluster or bun forms. Upholstered goods are usually overstuffed with
rounded arms and backs adding to the softness of the contours.
Woods may be pine or maple, usually left in a natural finish while chests
and benches might be painted with stenciled designs.
Hardware is rustic in form and materials, often made from wrought iron or
shaped from wood.
